[latest news] 2 years old and plans for a new site look   Monday - 11/21/2005 @ 22:57 EST It's been about 2 years since the original idea of the DDR Furs website. Right during MFF (which I just came back from this weekend) I had the idea for a site for other furs to communicate and get together for DDR events. So far almost 400 people have signed up in the database. I'm really happy with the success of this site so far. But it's been slightly brought to my attention that the site could be a bit nicer looking. This is probably one of my more "decent" projects when I made this site. One I did very quickly and "completed". Ok there's a few things that I never implemented properly or fully, but close enough. But still this site was pretty much up and operational in about 1 week time, I had a fully functioning site. 2 weeks later, I had a domain considering people seemed interested. I have some decent ideas on what I wish to do. But for now they'll be fairly secret. I may show a select few to get opinions, but for now all I'll say is: It'll be more DDR themed with (hopefully) multiple themes... and may take a while to make or I may just make it right away. I'm lazy, sue me :P Anyway, here's to more years of DDR Furs. Donations needed   Thursday - 11/10/2005 @ 19:02 EST Hi folks. Have a serious issue here: The bill for the server is due. Way over due infact. This server is used to host multiple hosts, including some of my own. Any that I host on my own come completely out of my pocket when I pay the hosting company, since I'm not hosting a site for a customer. The problem here is that the owner of the company is a friend of mine that has been letting me slide with the bill for a long time. 2 years infact. And he wants money. Now. We're talking 4 digits folks. And if it's not paid or started to be paid soon the server will be gone. Poof. No more. How can you help. Well there's two ways. 1) You can buy a T-Shirt from the DDR Furs store. You'll get a nice shirt AND give a few dollars to DDR furs at the same time. D'oh!   Thursday - 05/12/2005 @ 06:56 EDT As many of you might have noticed, the website was down for well over 2 weeks, closer to 3. The server suffered an HD failure and took a while to recover, mostly due to trying to convince my hoster to install gentoo. He's a good friend that's letting me get away with murder: I haven't paid him in well over a year :o but plan to change that soon and get the bill cleared before the end of the year so as such, I'm not a high priority. And any time I fucked up installing, he's usually not around the data center. But the site is back. Bad news? Well, the last proper backups made were between 12/30/2004 and 01/02/2005. Any logins or posts during the year of 2005 up to now are GONE. Sorry! (Well ok technically 1/2/2005, but it's easier to think of it being during this whole year) But atleast it's not a TOTAL loss. Doing more server software installation and thinking of ways to make regular off-site backups, Jouva 200 Combo! I mean... members...   Friday - 04/30/2004 @ 22:13 EDT DDR Furs has reached its 200th member! I'm quite happy to have this website and online community grow and help out furs within the community to find others that they didn't know. As the site grows, it'll help the existing members as well as others to come. This community will be about fun as I have mentioned since the beginning of its creation. I hope that everybody that joins has fun and helps others to have fun. Always remember to try and log in and use the forums. If you're not signed up to them already, sign up! :) You can also check out the IRC chat. Try to use IRC and forums as a way of helping to meet others or setup an event. Then post the event to the calendar. If you wish to attend the event, log in, view that event and click the "I am attending this event" button. Also, you can help out the community by helping somebody try to play the game. Don't laugh if they can't even do a 1 footer that well. We all started at the beginning! Support those trying to learn the game :) It will help this community as well as the DDR community and push for more usage of the game. Hopefully leading to more machines. Hey if each of us showed two people how to play and they each showed two people how to play, and it continued like that, it can grow quite a bit! I also have another special announcement! Let's hope to see several furs wearing these shirts at cons and at arcades ;) Some things that are in the works: - A listing on the main page of the next 5 events (or when the site grows more and makes use of the events section, events within the next undetermined amount of days)! - Ability to save yourself as logged in! - Colors on those darn black buttons!
